Meet the Founders
Meet the driving force behind Proud Mary’s – Katalina aka Coffee Kat, Marley and Darlene. As the founders, we’ve poured our hearts into every roast and infusion, ensuring that each cup of coffee embodies our unwavering commitment to quality, taste and responsibility.
Our company’s name, Proud Mary’s, pays homage to our late Aunt Mary Jane and the Hippie Era.
The hippie era was a time of radical change, where peace and love became a movement, and the quest for freedom sparked revolution in hearts and minds. It was a time of vibrant self-expression, where flower crowns and tie-dye clothing symbolized an open spirit, and music became the voice of rebellion.
The 1960s and early ’70s challenged the status quo, embracing the ideals of equality, environmentalism, and non-violence. From the streets of San Francisco to Woodstock’s muddy fields, the hippie era gave rise to a culture that celebrated individuality and unity all at once.
At its core, the hippie movement was about spiritual awakening, questioning materialism, and reconnecting with the earth. It stood as a bold statement against war, advocating for peace in a time of global tension.
In this homage, we celebrate the pioneers of this movement—the dreamers, the artists, the activists—who believed in a better world and sought to build it through peaceful revolution, embracing free love, psychedelic art, and a shared sense of humanity.
